Two recent developments out of the UK are worth noting in the world of online casinos.
First, the Responsible Gambling Fund of the UK has teamed up with the web developer Electric Putty to put into place a online information hub in order to build a tool to help individuals involved in problem gambling alleviation. This information system will aid researchers in locating publications, articles, and policy documents in the world of responsible gambling. Providers of treatment will have the ability to use the hub to find guidance, evaluations and statistics to further their cause. Counselors are able to use the information to refer addicted players to the proper help centers for treatment. Government officials and policy makers can use this resource to uncover the latest facts and findings to make the best decisions possible. The project has a target launch date in February of next year.
The UK Gambling Commission released their survey results for last quarter’s gambling participation survey. Notable findings were that participants in at least one kind of gambling increased to 57.1% from 55.5% from the year before. Those gamblers are most likely males over the age of 45. More specifically, those involved in remote gambling and online casinos was 11.9% and is up from 11.1% in 2010. Males are still far more likely to be the ones participating, but the 18-44 age group is the best represented.
